Guest Reader

It’s always fun to be a guest reader in a classroom. Students are usually ready and waiting and they’re so excited to have someone visit their classroom to share a book. It’s even more fun when you know the book you’re going to read to them has never been seen before and they’ve never heard the story.

That’s one of the most gratifying parts of being the author of a new book - you get to share it for the very first time. You get to see how children respond to things in both planned and unplanned ways. The best part is when they ask you to read it again!

What is it that makes a book a classic that children want to read again and again? I don’t think there is any one thing, but the best place to start is by reading it together. Take some time today to read with a child and enjoy an old favorite, and maybe something brand new!
