A New Book

No matter how old I get, I still get a thrill when I get a new book. I love how it smells, the freshness of the pages, and knowing I am about to be immersed in a story and place I’ve never imagined before. That’s how it is for children as well when they hear a story for the first time. Recently, I read my book for the first time to some children and it was so much fun to hear them respond to the illustrations as they looked at each new page. I would be ready to turn the page and they would stop me to look at one more thing, their little hands on the pages pointing as they recognized places and things that were familiar. I guess that is the true joy of being an author - creating an experience for the reader they’ve never had before. I received an email from the mother of one of my young readers and she said every time they see the geese he is looking for other letters and the little red scarf. So far, he’s seen an I and a W! I can’t wait to share this book with more children and families, and if you’ve already gotten a copy, I hope you enjoy reading it again and again.
